Grafting Yuzu Tree (3rd Grade)

Between oranges, lemons, and grapefruits - Yuzu is a unique Japanese citrus fruit. The flavor of this fruit is very versatile and can be used to make various foods and spices. Yuzu has a floral aroma and also a tartness of lime. The aroma of this fruit is difficult to define. It can be described as floral with notes of honey and lemon blossom.

Yuzu is mainly originated and mostly used in making aromatic products and food items in Japan.

The harvested fruits are known for their freshness and delicious aroma. Yuzu is generally grown on the hillside. It is grown without the use of pesticides during the cultivation period.

Hon Yuzu, also known as Kito Yuzu, is a fragrant and juicy variety. It produces large fruit, weighing about 130 g, with a characteristic taste. It is often used in cooking or as a flavor enhancer because of its aromatic juice and peel.

  • It is a prolific producer and one tree is sufficient for cultivation. Yuzu trees are self-fertile, rarely bothered by pests, and can grow 5 to 10 feet tall. 4-8 hours of full sunlight per day and well-drained soil is a requirement for better growth.
  • Usually, a grafted yuzu tree can take 2-3 years to produce fruit. Grafting means taking a mature bud from a fruiting tree and attaching it to the rootstock. It helps to pass the juvenile phase, so it can bear fruit within a few years.
  • This yuzu also goes by the name wooden yuzu. It has strong frost resistance and is easy to grow. Generally, the harvest time is from August to December.
  • There may be a white powder on the surface of the leaves. That stands as proof that it was grown in a protective house with insecticides sprayed to keep insects away. This is done because early growth is important for fruit trees.
  • The product comes with large seeds. It is temporarily planted in a vinyl pot that is about 1.1 m (4.3 ft) tall with the pot.
